GUANO Metadata Fields

Full-spectrum .wav files and zero-crossing .zc files saved by the Song Meter Mini Bat 2 include the following GUANO fields:

  • Firmware version: Firmware version installed on the recorder at the time of recording.

  • Length: Duration of the audio file in seconds.

  • Loc Position: Latitude and longitude saved to the recorder at the time of recording.

  • Make: Manufacturer of the recorder (Wildlife Acoustics, Inc.).

  • Model: Model name of the recorder.

  • Original Filename: File name of the recording as originally saved to the SD card by the Song Meter Mini Bat 2. This metadata field will remain even if the file name is later edited.

  • Samplerate 1: Sample rate of the recording in hertz, as set in the recorder's Acoustic Settings Screen or Ultrasonic Settings Screen.
  • Serial: Serial number of the recorder.

  • Temperature Int: Reading from the recorder's internal temperature sensor in degrees Celsius at the time of the recording.

  • Timestamp: Date and time at which the recording started. This field also saves the UTC offset that had been set in the recorder's Location & Time Zone Screen.

  • WA|Song Meter|Audio settings: Array of audio settings used by the recorder:

The following settings are only included for recordings made in triggered ultrasonic mode:

    • trig window: Records the value of the Trigger Window setting, in seconds.

    • trig max len: Records the value of the Maximum Recording Length setting, in seconds.

    • trig min freq: Records the value of the Minimum Trigger Frequency, in hertz.

    • trig max freq: Records the maximum frequency, in hertz, that will trigger the Song Meter Mini Bat 2 to start recording.

In firmware version 4.2 and earlier, this was non-adjustable, locked at 128000.

In firmware version 4.3 and later, this is equal to half the Full-Spectrum Sample Rate parameter.2
    • trig min dur: Non-adjustable. Defines the minimum length, in milliseconds, of an ultrasonic signal that is counted as a bat pulse. When Save Noise Files? is enabled, this is set to zero.

    • trig max dur: Non-adjustable. Defines the maximum length, in milliseconds, of an ultrasonic signal that is counted as a bat pulse. When Save Noise Files? is enabled, this is set to zero.

  • WA|Song Meter|Prefix: The custom Recorder Name for the Song Meter Mini Bat 2.

1

Full-spectrum recordings only.

2

This is true even during Zero-Crossing recording. The trig max freq parameter will equal half of whatever the Full-Spectrum Sample Rate value was when full-spectrum recording was last enabled.
