Luis is a Salvadorean biologist with 18 years of experience in mammal studies and biodiversity conservation projects in Central America. He is the former coordinator of the bat conservation program in El Salvador, currently part of the Latin American special committee on bats and wind energy and the Bat Specialist Group of IUCN, and President of Asociación Territorios Vivos El Salvador (ATVES). He also has experience in other areas such as biological corridors, GIS, risk assessments for biodiversity, sustainable development in low-income communities, and environmental education.
He has participated in different investigations using ultrasound detectors to identify bats and compare habitat use. His experience as an instructor in several bioacoustics workshops and advisor for bachelor's and master's thesis where insectivorous bats are investigated using acoustic recorders make him especially helpful for this webinar.
