Automated Call Recorders

Two models of simple automated animal call recorders are available. Both consist of a cassette recorder, system controller and power supply housed in a weatherproof housing. An externally mounted omni-directional microphone completes the system.

Both models can be programmed by the user to record at pre-set times. The more advanced microprocessor version has additional inputs, enabling the researcher to interface any number of external sensors to initiate recording.

Advanced Automated Call Recording System

This system incorporates the clever Eco Pro audio processor. This unit allows fully automated and remote recording of only those animal calls that meet certain auditory thresholds. Thus initiated, the system’s tape recorder is activated, allowing calls to be recorded on tape (via an electronic buffer to overcome the tape recorder’s lag time). Each recording receives a time and date stamp, along with a calibration tone to assist in subsequent analysis.
